Officials Say Air Algerie Jet Plummeted From 33,000 Feet To Zero In 3 Minutes
The Air Algerie flight that crashed in Mali last week appears to have plummeted to the ground from an altitude of 10,000 meters in just a few minutes after flying into a storm, a senior official involved in the investigation was quoted as saying (www.businessinsider.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
That's a fast fall. Must have been no control from on top at all.
sounds like another high altitude stall accident to me. Maybe a repeat of West Caribbean Airways Flight 708 unfortunately.
Well, they are talking wx. IDK about 708, but AF447 took about 110 minutes or so. Something bad happened on top. That fast a fall sounds like a nose down dive.
typo, 10 minutes to fall
11,000 fpm....wow...and all of the wreckage was almost all in the same vicinity.
microburst????????
Microbursts are more common near the ground. Now a downdraft could be possible... But you would think they would have the sense to fly around a storm exceeding FL330.
This story says they had deviated around it but then went back to their original route, turning right back into it.
probably right back into the tail of it.
LOL..110 minutes...Prox 320fpm descent that would give one way too much time to think about what was happening. ( 8-)
