Plaintiffs Win Round in Oregon No Fly List
Submitted
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A federal judge ruled that people placed on the U.S. government's no-fly list have a constitutionally protected interest in traveling by air, and the right to due process when it's denied. U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown of Portland, in an opinion released late Wednesday, rejected the government's assertion that people on the no-fly list can travel by other means, and that being on the list does not deprive them of their liberty. Great Lakes Aviation spokeswoman Monica Taylor-Lee said none of the passengers or crew members aboard Flight 7150 was injured. She said the crew was able to deploy the gear manually in flight, but it did not hold as the plane was decelerating on the landing.
