Given the amount of negative press, foul mood at the FAA, and public perception, my opinion is that we're going to see a massive compensation payout to both the families, the airlines and some governments. So while Boeing went into this with a huge bankroll (and the dame size of hubris and righteousness) it is now questionable whether current management will survive. Furthermore, while I think Boeing will survive this it's going to have to implement a company-wide change of culture. At least I hope so, for the good of its employees and our country.

It is not Boeing, it is the insurance company doing what they have always done. They took on the liability, and now are using every technique offensive to the traditional notions of fair play to minimize their payout. They have taken it to a new level that even slime-ball attorneys are offended.

Oh yes..it is Boeing...they have to be advised and have to sign off on any "arrangements" made. Granted the rest of your statement is spot on about slime-balls.

The insurance company can do whatever they want and they don't need Boeing's signature or approval to do it.

$92,000!.. WHAT!.. Boeing cannot allow their insurance comp lawyers to ambulance chase these families... unless they dont care about restoring their reputation!!!

Sure they save a few bucks.. but this settlement process starts the perception repair if done right..
