Untrained ground crew causes cancellation of first commercial flight of brand-new Tunisair A330

Enviado

An incident with the fire extinguishers in the cargo hold of the brand-new Tunisair A330 caused cancellation of the first commercial flight today. Untrained workers set off the fire extinguishers, apparently the oxygen masks for the passengers were also deployed. Warning to anybody allergic to French! The link leads to a French language publication! (www.investir-en-tunisie.net) Más...

Jep, that's what you get when you change your sentence structure, forgetting to erase the unnecessary part afterwards..... 😉

Google Translate did a pretty good job with that one.

Thank you that worked well

Sorry, the "to be cancelled" in the headline should be deleted, but I can't edit it out.

I'm guessing that Tunisair can't get there from there.

A smoke break break in the cargo hold gone wild! ;-)

The text say something about smashing something on the fire extinguishers, but you theory might be true.

How do you say "oops" in French?

Zut, alors

French is only the prevailing foreign language in Tunisia Jeremy. The national language is Arabic.

القرف

I'll have to find out if that's the correct word in Arabic to use in the context. :)
I'll come back to you as soon as I get an answer.
wopri
Martin, my contact told me that the correct word in Arabic is عفوا, but he is sometimes a bit too formal, so your القرف might be correct in colloquial language.

Unlike the Gimli Glider they didn't get it in the air after a translations problem...metric, French, English, gallons and pounds.

It's even more complicated than that John, the language in Tunisia is Arabic. ;)
Looks like someone bumped something on the fire extinguishing system, setting off the chain of events.

I guess that's what you get when you let unqualified people play with you new toy.
