Comparable costs to a 777 or not, there is still that little problem that they can't go everywhere. Looks to me like cargo or pax between hubs is about it. That is a problem even with the new ones.

Interesting but the airlines who operate the troubled A380S' want to order the newer version??. The super jumbo has become the big white elephant and is not as popular as the legendary Jumbo Jet. The A380 has being plagued with problems since it was introduced. A fundraiser for Airbus industries who laugh it off. They will be worried soon if they find the big tub in the desert floors being stored locked up to corrode away to nothing or get the chop.

I am surprised China Southern us not on the list of airlines considering unloading them. They have struggled to find routes for the five aircraft that will break even. The HKG to PEK route was not profitable nor was CAN-PEK. Now flying CAN-LAX.

where are the second level waves of additional orders for this beast possibly going to come from? Airbus requires a set number of new orders averaged over a set number of years, and none of that is happening now or in the future. Cargo use is still possible, but the problem is exactly that of the supercargo container ships, which are presently having their own airbus follies production woes. We are witnessing a huge squirming act from the AirBussers on this subject. Could American , Delta and United put the 380 on transcontinental runs, taking 4 frequency flights out for one 380 one way trip, and make three trips daily coast to coast to coast? They would get somewhere near 15 hours of utilization daily- good enough- and free aircraft replaced for other uses, Would passengers prefer any 321 to any 380 flight, same length but better comfort? But when I do the numbers, the three American trunk carriers would not need more than 5 apiece, 15 total to do that switch.

I personal think it will be pulled from the lineup if no sales this year. As far as the used ones, that will be interesting. Lots of possibilities.
