Voters Deal a Blow Against Santa Monica Airport

Enviado

Santa Monica Airport (SMO) supporters were dealt a heavy blow by voters this week as Measure D was defeated with 58 percent voting no. The measure was designed to transfer power over major decisions affecting the Santa Monica Airport from the city council to local voters. The Santa Monica City Council has made no secret of its desire to close the airport and redevelop the 227-acre property. (www.flyingmag.com) Más...

Seems to me that SMO voters decided like the rest of the country in 2010, to let someone else do it. After these last 2 years, they woke up. Now, SMO is going to have to do the same thing if they want to keep their Airport.

Chances are that someone lurks in the background ready to take it off their hands with development plans already drawn.

yep.

BTW, had my 1st 6 hr round of chemo yesterday. No nausea or nothing although I have medicine if needed. Drove home from LIT, about 80 miles, and had the best night's sleep since coming home from the hospital last moth, as well as most of soreness gone.

Great. Voice should be improving but don't plan to sing in the Boys Choir again. I guess they will be pushing the walking now to build up your tolerance. Once the pain on coughing subsides you will gradually feel pretty normal.

It has subsided. Surgeon is done with me. Cardiologists are done. Chemo doc has me now. Walking and Speech therapy all on me and I'm OK with it. ENT on 12/8 to check nerve for vocal. Other than speech exercise, she doesn't want to get real serious until after chemo is done. It may be back own it's own then. Walking about 10 minutes per day, about 1/4 mile. Ok outside, but winding catches up when I come back inside, but it will get better.

Actually the nerve might just be insulted and the cord will come back....rule of threes. Most in three weeks, rest up to three months. If it doesn't, the other cord will actually compensate in most people by crossing the midline to close the gap. If the tumor was anywhere near the nerve it was the correct thing to sacrifice it. Vocal cords actually have very little to do with speech productions, mostly airflow.

Voice is bad breathy and tumor came right up to edge of bronchial tube from what the said. I just know that per biopsy and CAT scan he could have gotten by with Lobe, but X-RAY about a week before surgery, it had grown and he said there was possibility of whole lung.

Be glad you are in South Florida. It's cold over here and will get into the 30's next week. We just not far enough South.

Nice here today. Cutting bamboo, trimming trees and mowing. Need to pressure wash lanai after this...watching all the arriving flights at RSW bring in shivering Yankees to plug up our roads. It is already bad and will only get worse by Christmas.

They found the spot, very small, at end of July on routine chest xray. It did not even show on my class 1 in May. We cut it out Oct 3. Week in hospital and home. Started a followup chemo yesterday. Voice back after while but I'm doing OK,; just can't do what I did but am going to try and do all I can.
