Enviado

At the invitation of the French government, a C-47 will return to France in June to participate in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. In June it will recreate its role and drop paratroopers over the original drop zone in Sainte-Mere-Eglise. (www.foxnews.com) Más...

Awesome. Saw this bird and met the crew at the Waterloo Air Show last summer. Congratulations on raising enough money to make the trip! I'm happy to see my $10 go toward something as special as this.

There is at least one C-46, bigger and with more cargo capabilities still flying commercially with Buffalo Airlines out of Yellowknife, North West Territories, Canada. I know it came along in 1942 but this plane is still hauling freight up the Mackenzie River in some of the most challenging conditions on earth. It isn't a museum piece. Oh by the way. Buffalo also flies the DC-3 (C-47) and 2 Electras. These are all flying commercially as we speak.
