I understand, but a company can't survive giving away content for free and having nothing else to monetize. It at least needs to have some data on its overall readership so it can pitch to advertisers about the size of its readership, type of reader, etc., or so it knows how to shape its coverage. Media companies aren't charities, so there has to be something they can use. . . I'm guessing, but don't know for sure, that we don't ping people with tons of marketing unless they sign up for newsletters. Hopefully you'll give us a try.
