I guess I should be glad I already booked my summer vacation tickets then, haha. No matter what, so long as the opportunity cost remains higher for flying over driving people will grumble louder but continue paying the increased fares. It still sucks, but what can you do? Either pay more for the ticket or more for the gas you put in your car. If paying more is inevitable, I'd at least like to get there faster.
I guess it's time to get my IFR ticket and start flying myself on business trips. Plus, I'd save loads of time not having to go to the big airport (45 min. drive vs. 10 min. to local airport) and waiting on delayed flights.
Cut enough flights, charge enough, cancel flights whenever you can, shrink fleet whenever you can. This them becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Make sure to get the exec bonuses covered though. Just keep driving people away and treating passengers like the enemy and I have another prophecy for you.
