Air Canada, United Airlines say 737 MAX groundings to hurt business
Air Canada and United Airlines on Friday became the first major carriers in North America to warn of negative impacts on business due to the grounding of Boeing Co's 737 MAX planes. Air Canada suspended its 2019 financial forecasts, saying it continued to adapt a contingency plan to address the current uncertainty surrounding the new jets. United Airlines, the No. 3 U.S. carrier, said it would see an adverse effect on its operations if the jets remained grounded heading into the peak summer… (www.yahoo.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
AIR CANADA spent hundreds of millions on fleet renewal. The A-320 was approaching the end of its operational lives. AIR CANADA and WEST JET Will be forced to adapt to this situation. The airlines mantra after nearly spending a billion dollars "get them in the air and keep them flying". That is the only way an airline can survive. Take those assets away cripples the airline and hobbles the business. The real fear is people might refuse to fly on this new 737 model. The Locheed Electra had a problem of shedding wings in flight. People vote with their wallet and feet. No one wanted to be on the Electra. Crashes scare people into thinking they can choose a safer airline. The fact is they could really can't determine a safer aviation model. Ground them till a fix has been approved. I am convinced that this will be a great aircraft.
I wish Boeing had re-engined the 757, could have even redesigned the wing. There’s far more belt loaders around the ramps today to stay with a little squatty 737 variant!
