Pilot injured when flight control become stuck
The private pilot reported that, while making a right turn during a personal flight, the flight controls “stuck.” She was unable to make aileron or elevator control inputs, and was also unable to correct the airplane’s bank using rudder inputs. She probably had her big purse (or something else) in the back seat and it jammed the rear control stick? I actually had my briefcase fall forward on the rear seat in a cub and the control movement was restricted in bank and pitch until I reached back and moved my case.
Agreed. She probably had too much material on board that could have rendered this a fatal accident. I find that some General Aviation Enthusiasts do not follow the manufacturers recommended maximum weight allowed on board. That why fifty pounds could kill you instead of being efficient. I believe that is why there aware so many accidents in Canada's North. Plus there are a lot of operators looking to make a fast buck. That's what's killing so many pilots in the arctic. Rescue services are few and far between.
