TWA 800 Revisited?

TWA 800 is back with us again, thanks to a new documentary. The movie is called, well, "TWA 800," and it revisits the theory that the Paris-bound 747 was destroyed not by an explosion of vapors in its empty center fuel tank, as was concluded after the most expensive crash investigation in U.S. history, but by a missile -- three of them, in fact. You're liable to watch the film and come away suspicious of the official findings, which is of course the whole intent. But if you read… (www.askthepilot.com) Más...

I am skeptical of the findings as well, as many of the actual investigators have even come forward and said it was a missile.
I further agree that, although I will watch the film, the fact that they could not even put a 747 on the poster might be an indicator of a poor/misinformed movie that wont be near as good as it could be.

While I can make no determination about the cause of TWA 800's explosion, one observation of Patrick's is worth considering:

Streaking flaming pieces of the exploding jet could possibly be seen from afar and mistaken for missiles before the explosion would be heard (just like lightening is seen in the distance before the thunder is heard).

This phenomenon could easily be responsible for the myriad sighting of bright steaks that could be mistaken for missiles.
