Continental Airlines Pilot Dies on Flight From Brussels to Newark
DEVELOPING STORY: The captain of a Continental Airlines flight en route from Brussels, Belgium, to Newark, N.J., died during the trip, FOX News confirmed. The pilot died Thursday aboard Continental Flight 61, and the co-pilot took over the aircraft's controls, FAA spokesman Les Dorr told FOX. Interesting to know if the co pilot or relief pilot are "Captain qualified". Not sure if the 777 has nose wheel steering on both sides but most jets do not. Other than that (the taxiing issue) there was no reason the flight should not complete as normal.

All Trans-Atlantic/Intl pilots are captain qualified @ US Airways. Good point about the age 60 rule...bring it back!
gentlemen, my father is now healthy over 65, he was lucky to continue flying till he reached that age. He always had excellent medical review boards etc... there is no reason to tell a health pilot he cannot fly once he reaches 60. Have you considered what is there to do for a man (or woman) that all they have done for the past 40 years or so is fly??? with the current European crisis ther in not much a veteran pilot can do and smaller european airlines dont have that great retirement packages for their pilots. You are basically signing off their death warrant.
