FAA Mandates Increased Rest for Air Traffic Controllers
In response to concerns about air traffic controller exhaustion and its potential impact on safety, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced new regulations aimed at addressing fatigue among controllers. (www.airguide.info) Más...Some people are able to manage their own rest requirements, regardless of work schedules. Unless the new regs also dictate how those rest hours are to be spent, it won't really accomplish anything, on it's own.
I would like to see fewer distractions in the control tower. No visitors would be a good start. They could watch a video if they want to see what goes on.
I disagree... I know I have visited my local tower... did not stay long, but my Goal was to see what they can and more importantly what they Can't see! I learned a lot and it was worth the trip. However, besure to schedule your trip at a time they have the appropriate manpower to support it and don't over stay your visit. I learned a lot on my short visit.. Probably 20 minutes or less, But I learned a lot.
I should have mentioned... Visit your local Tracom as well and if your Tracom offers seminars... Jump on the opportunity and may give FAA Credits.
You can't make this stuff up!!!
