Delta Suspends Atlanta-Rome Flights
Delta Air Lines (DL) has suspended flights from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) due to COVID-19 this past Sunday. Following its cancelations to South Korea in February and to Milan from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York last week, DL cut off temporarily five routes from its hub airport, ATL, to Italy’s capital as the north of the country was put on quarantine this weekend. (airwaysmag.com) Más...But they are still running the KJFK to Rome flights. Why? Why not fly people into a neighboring country and let a local carrier take them into Italy.
I'm not into over blowing this, but my wife was exposed to an idiot that KNEW HE HAD IT, and we now have to 'quarantine in place', so thanks for idiots that love to keep their heads in their asses. Dying of stupidity should be a price they pay for being so incredibly stupid, but no, they want to spread it around. Grrrr...

"Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte stated that Italy would be banning all but the most essential travel in and out of the country, as part of a new, extended lockdown" Most local carriers are now stuck in Italy, or cannot get back in unless a repatriation flight or medical.
I think a number of flights may be "ghost" flights. "Some airlines had continued to operate near-empty flights in order to protect their rights to take-off and landing slots. Under EU "use it or lose it" rules they were required to run services on busy routes or forfeit them to other operators.
However, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen has announced that airlines will be allowed to keep their slots even if they are not flying routes.

this is awful for the people of Italy...the entire country is now basically "quarantined",and now airlines are stopping flights..it can happen anywhere as a virus with nor current vaccine has the headstart...
Wow.. this is changing everyones lives not to mention the financial impacts..
