See Striking Video - California Man Arrested After Shining Laser at a Police Airplane
Authorities on Monday arrested a suspect accused of pointing a laser at a California Highway Patrol airplane in the North Bay. Hope that Flight Aware friends are able to follow this up and let us know whether this guy gets the maximum penalty (5 years?).

(a) OFFENSE — Whoever knowingly aims the beam of a laser pointer at an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States, or at the flight path of such an aircraft, shall be fined under this title {maximum of $250,000} or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
