FAA SAFO Advises Operators of Upcoming 5G Restrictions
The FAA is continuing its education campaign to safeguard operators from the effects of potential 5G interference in the C-Band, this time with a Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO 21007) warning of systems that could have faulty information and advising of forthcoming notams that will identify affected geographic regions. Released last week, SAFO 21007 stated the notams will specify where radio altimeter operations will be prohibited per airworthiness directives issued this month (AD 2021-23-12… (www.ainonline.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Ok so go to China. No issues. Go to America and suddenly the FAA is worried about issues? I get it and I understand. But, I'm a radio guy, have been all of my life and in less there's something major that I don't yet know, I fail to see how 5G will in any way be threatening to the aviation industry in any way.
Altimeters shouldn't be threatened by CBand and 5G.

Why aren't those profiting from the 5g market paying for the needed upgrades ??
If my neighbor buys a vicious dog is it my responsibility to install a containment fence ????
is 5g necessary ????
How did we get ever get nuclear power, get to moon, how do medical providers practice telemedicine how does the stock market survive high frequency trading without 5g ?
Will all those customer support offices who no matter what time of the day or night you call are experiencing unusually high call volumes and your call will answered by the next available agent help me more quickly ?
Will my pizza places increase manpower to handle the addition speeds ?
Do I have to tall faster to benefit from 5G ?
Will televisions speed up their scan times and send 30 minute programs in 15 minutes ?
Will Bett Sue learn a nanosecond sooner from Barbara oe if Davy is going to ask her to the dance ?
I mentioned in an earlier post I had a FCC 1st class ffc operators license decades
ago. I also worked for one the firms pushing 5g and I will quote from a director
"..we don't want to be big brother. we want to be his service provider."

You realize that the 5G band in question did not even belong to Aviation, right? The only reason it's an issue now is that the altimeters old & sloppy design encroaches on the adjacent band and, somehow, this is somebody else's problem.
You sound like Phil Falcone. Phil, is that you? (Remember LightSquared and their self-serving stupid identical statements concerning GPSs?)
Article shows the many avionics systems that depend on valid radar altimeter signals (aircraft height above ground sensors)
“Anomalous (missing or erroneous) radio altimeter inputs could cause...other systems to operate in an unexpected way during any phase of flight — most critically during takeoff, approach, and landing phases.."
(potentially affected systems include) " Class A terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS-A), enhanced ground proximity warning systems, traffic alert and collision avoidance systems (TCAS II), takeoff guidance systems, flight control, tail strike prevention systems, windshear detection systems, envelope protection systems, altitude safety call out/alerts, autothrottle, thrust reversers, flight director, primary flight display of height above ground, stick pusher, engine and wing anti-ice systems, and automatic flight guidance and control systems.

The once-delayed January 5, 2022 5G cutover date is SIX, count-em, SIX days away.
If there is a single aircraft incident, or even a near-miss related to 5G interference there will be an absolute uproar.
