KLM Boeing 747-400 at Curacao on Jan 20th 2017, bird strike
A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFL performing flight KL-736 from Curacao (Curacao) to Amsterdam (Netherlands), was climbing out of Curacao's runway 11 when an engine (CF6) ingested a bird (www.aeroinside.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Interesting that the crew continued to FL250. Assuming the affected engine was shut down there may have been some airframe damage causing vibration or trim issues requiring a return. However, if damage was not apparent a continuation towards possibly JFK where maintenance and alternate pax routing options are plentiful without wasting fuel. Not that I wouldn't mind extra vacation time in Curacao!
the Jumbo Jet it's nick name or the Boeing 747 with a bird strike still has three powerful engines to fly on with one shut down
