Weather, Volume Cause Delays for UPS Air Network and Holiday Presents

It's amazing that people expect "perfection" and cannot understand the vagaries of weather and its impact...yet blame others for their own failure to plan ahead properly, and order their "gifts" well in advance. It's not as if "christmas" sneaked up on anyone.
Ya know, as an employee of FedEx I can't exactly say that I'm surprised to find out that it wasn't just UPS having problems meeting delivery schedules.
These stories circulating have tried to portray UPS and FedEx as villains out to spoil Christmas day for children and adults alike.
For those of you who watch closely, UPS in particular went all out to cope with a record shipping season. Leasing 16 aircraft (747's), opening a remote sorting facility, and in some terminals ran 9 flights in one day to overcome weather and volume.
