Report: American Airlines to replace US fleet

I would think that the folks at Airbus would not want to give away the farm in its negotiations, however. If I were the salesman at Airbus I'd have to consider the fact that I may find myself being used as a hammer to force Boeing to sharpen their pencils. I wouldn't start spending my commission just yet...
I think that they are going to stay with Boeing. It makes sense to keep your fleet the same manufacturer so you can keep costs down. American is only talking to Airbus so they can get a better deal from Boeing. If Airbus was out of the picture, Boeing would have the upper hand in the talks and American could not get the discounts or financing options that are being offered by Airbus. Since Airbus is offering these incentives, Boeing in no doubt will do the same and probably add a few more.
It's really kind of amazing that they've kept flying that many MD's for so long.
Good couple weeks for Airbus.
