Oh and as a side note, I was 2-3 miles away when I took this with the 600mm lens. And I still needed to crop it (digital zoom) to get it as you see it.

I don't know exactly. Its stated max altitude is 15,000 ft. And since it sits at the base of the Huachuca mountains which go up to around 9,500 ft (Miller Peak is at 9,470), I would guess that it is at 10,000 ft, at least, in order to "see" over the mountain range to the west. I think its coverage area is supposed to overlap with the one at Yuma, AZ to the west, and the one at Deming, NM to the east. So, it needs to be up pretty high in order to do that.
