I've posted this as a comparison to Tom Vance's photo of Air California B732 N462GB. On that pic I commented about passenger doors on Ansett's 732s having self-contained airstairs at the front but the rear door being only accessible by mobile airstairs as Ansett's version lacked the rear self-contained airstairs.

SUPERB shot!! Coloring in all five stars. Check it out ... the passengers are not overdressed, but they are "casually well dressed." Not a slob among them; unlike today when most child passengers are more well dressed than two-thirds of the adults. A few years back, I was in a window seat on a late-evening flight out of ORD. When we boarded, the woman next to me was wearing a knee-length coat. After we took off, she removed it. She was wearing a bathrobe underneath it. And it looked like it had come off the bargain rack at her local "TRASH-R-US" third-hand store. Another time, saw a dad holding his young daughter's hand in the preboarding line for a SW flight. Mom was behind them with an infant. The daughter's shirt read, "My eyes are up here" with an arrow pointing upward from her chest. She was around six or seven. What real father would have his daughter wear that? What mother would let her husband even take their daughter out the front door? Yo, Gavin. Thanks for posting this. Reminds me of the days when flying was fun and the people who flew on planes had self-pride and a degree of class.

Sadly Gary, those days are gone and self-pride with them. It's no better here.

LOL........................! Gman! Gavin, nice 6 star tail but we will give you 5***** but a classic shot - wow! At KSJC we did see -200 use airstairs even though they had the self contained airstairs, My oldest brother worked at Air California at KSJC late 60s- early 70s before he went into the US Army at helicopter Pilot.

Nice Shot! I think I still had hair when that was taken.

You and me both Steve, though I'm lucky, there's still enough left!

Not only did people dress better, but the planes were bigger too. My dad worked security after he retired from the Army, and when my mom needed a break, I'd go hang out at the airport with him. People really dressed up, but the change was already coming.

I remember coming out of the Caribbean, and a woman got on with a bikini top and jeans shorts. Um... The top did actually fit though, covering more than now.

What does it for me are the white engines!
