Douglas DC-3 (VH-MMF)

I was on a bus tour holiday in Tasmania - you know, get up early, pack, rush breakfast and out the door to get on the road, rush from place to place and usually end up exhausted at the end of the day - happy days!

We arrived in Wynyard with enough time to go exploring and I found the airport with this sitting there disembarking passengers. I’ve cropped it wider than usual to leave the well-dressed gentleman in the pic as he has an Ansett bag over his shoulder - remember airline bags?

While I was there TAA Fokker Friendship, VH-FNT arrived and yes, I’ve got photos of that.

No prizes for working out who was the previous operator of MMF before Air Tasmania.

I'd be keen to see that F27 photo of FNT parked in Wynyard. She features in my logbooks from the mid '80s.

Was restored to flying condition in 2015, briefly registered as VH-XUX and is now preserved overseas at The Flying Tiger Guilin Heritage Park, China.
