Lockheed EC-121 Constellation (N421NA)

Back in the day I didn’t keep records but I visited Sydney in late 1972 with a Kodak Instamatic - didn’t know what an SLR was back then. I walked a lot around parts of Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport and this NASA Connie was one of the aircraft I found - this pic is cropped from a slide.

According to a NASA log it departed Sydney December 1 and had been there from November 25.

NASA had two C121G Connies, NASA 420 and NASA 421, and on June 25, 1969 both received civil registrations, N420NA and N421NA respectively. They were used in support of NASA Apollo space missions and often visited Australia because of Australia’s involvement in the program.
