Anyone know why Boeing switched from the oval opening on number two to a round one. I think I read somewhere that when redesigning the intakes on the 737's the flattened opening actually improved the air flow...
In 1967 & 1968 I was in the USAF stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. At that time Lufthansa kept a B727 at the Tucson airport (KTUS) for training their pilots on the aircraft. The weather there was VFR most of the time and the airport was not that busy, so it apparently made it an efficient location for Lufthansa to train. I don't remember how it got set up but members of the DM Aero Club could ride along on training flights making approaches and take offs and landings. For me, just learning to fly, that was an amazing time.
