Ben-the FA gallery is a photographers gallery. That having been said, thank you for coming back on and telling the story behind this picture from your perspective. Anyone who has a historical photo that adds to the gallery, like this does, is most welcome to post here, and as much info as they can supply will be appreciated. Thanks again for sharing.

5 Stars, Benjamin, for sharing your honesty and candor on this picture. Can you say or did the gentleman that told of his relative share who the crew member was he was related to and maybe more of what his story was? Any more connection to this wonderful picture would be also great to hear. Welcome to the site!

Great picture. Thanks for sharing.

I wish there were more like this posted on the site! Wonderful historic stuff. Instead of someone shooting a photo of a plane at 35,000 feet that is so blurry that you can't even make out the airline and on top of that, they post 10 photos of the same plane. I wish management would do some deleting when it comes to those kind of photos. Didn't mean to rant but idiots that post those kind of photos move the great ones like this down a page or two and you end up missing them.

I'm with ppick on this. I would much rather see more historic pictures than brand-new junk. And the more information you can put with the photo, the better. So, thanks for posting this one, Benjamin.

A great historic photo of Brave men and their flying machines.(I'm taking a quick guess here but is this a Beaufighter Aircraft)

That would be a B-17G, Flying Fortress.

My uncle was a B-17 bombardier. I googled his name and found this picture,

Great stories of his missions over Germany, recorded by Capt Arlin of the 398th Bomber Group, Nuthampstead.
