Spirit becomes the 5th airline to provide flights between Reno and KLAS. Depending on the day of the week, the number of flights per day is between 10 and 13. The primary reason that Renoites travel downstate to KLAS is because Reno has almost no long-distance nonstop air service with direct nonstop service to New York City (1 flight), Mexico (1 flight), and Houston (1 flight) being exceptions to what otherwise are short hop flights that take folks to other airports (like KLAS, KSFO, KSJC, KLAX, KSEA, etc) where they can connect and go places. Up until a couple of months ago, Frontier was flying to KDEN and American was flying to KORD, but both of those routes were discontinued. Delta tried offering daily service to KATL but canned that route and now will only offer it during the end-of-year holiday season. Starting in September, Sun Country will begin nonstop service to Minneapolis but only two flights a week. Good luck, SCX.
