Lockheed C-130 Hercules (16-3023)
A United States Navy KC-130T (163023) does not even shut down any engines as a crewmember drops the "tailgate" to perform a fast offload. Within a brief period of minutes, a crewmember raised the gate just high enough to sit comfortably on it and that crewmember guided the pilot who backed the Hercules south off the Atlantic Aviation ramp area and on to Lima taxiway where it turned and backed up toward the east before stopping and then taxiing away toward the southern end of the airport. Too awesome!!
Navy Herc 163023 is assigned to VX-30 (AIRTEVRON 30 --- Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 30), "The Bloodhounds," and is based at NAS Pt. Mugu, California.
Comments
The three Bloodhounds on the tail aren't very visible from this angle, and because there was all types of activity around this Hercules and two other Navy aircraft just off the left edge of this photo, I did not drift across the ramp to try for a better shot of the tail. I did get a closeup of the Bloodhounds as the Hercules backed away, but since it is just an isolated pic showing only the tail, I won't post it.
