Love those Chinooks.......
Occasionally see them in Appleton. Army Guard flies them from Davenport, IA Field. They use the Hardwood Air to Ground Gunnery Range in Central WI from gunnery practice.

Back in the late 60s, I was a TV news photographer doing a story on military training at Ft. Benning, GA. I hung out the back of a Chinook while troops ran past me to exit the chopper. I was shooting straight down to the ground. It made for an interesting perspective. At 1500 ft., I had a cable attached to me. At 3000 ft., they made me wear a 'chute. I still had the cable, though.
Beautiful shot of my favorite helicopter and places I used to ski -- Mount Rose and Slide Mountain.
Nice hot dog turn at Low level.....! wow 5x
I had always heard the expression "it was so loud, I couldn't hear myself think". Then I rode in a Chinook from Tay Ninh to Cu Chi and found out that it wasn't just an expression.
Great catch Gary! I don't see these much so thank you for sharing!
