How old is the photo? looks like the 60's or 70's
American Airlines flew the freighter until 1985. When the picture was taken AA only had 3 or 4 of them left. If I remember right the picture was taken in the spring time. They were doing pilot training at the time. So I am going to say the picture was taken in the spring of 1984 or 85. So the picture is 30 plus years old.
I had the privilege of meeting the now retired American Airlines 747 fleet manager at the CR Smith Museum in Dallas. I was finishing up training at American Eagle and ran into this Gentlemen, a true class act. He had flown just about everything under the sun. Glad I got to meet you Mr. I forgot your name, thanks for volunteering at the Museum and keeping us young ones in line.

Wow, that is definitely a rare photo on this site. Back when most airlines still had their air cargo business (now only a handful of them still do).
Is this one of the two that ended up being sold to NASA to carry piggy-back the Shuttle.
