Boeing 737-700 (N222WN)
Southwest Airlines "Green Jet" on final 30R The green aircraft uses environmentally friendly materials to make the airplane almost 520 pounds lighter. The reduced weight will save 10,000 gallons of fuel per year. Some of the materials include carpet and seat coverings never before used on commercial aircraft. The carpet is 10 percent lighter than current carpet used and took two hours less to install. Two seat covers are being tested, one of synthetic leather, the other of man-made composition leather using recycled materials. The aircraft features a lighter-weight life vest pouch.
