North American T-6 Texan (N3242G)
Comments
I am guessing this is supposed to be a T-6 made to look like a Nakamima B5N "Kate." Any other thoughts?
It is probably partof the Confederate Air Force "Tore,Tora, Tora" group for air shows. The CAF emblem can be made out just past the red strip on the tail of the aircraft
It's a Nakajima B5N 'Kate', as described in Wikipedia.
according to the FAA registry it is indeed an AT-6D. I believe I saw this aircraft at Wings over Wayne....wow what a show!
I think Paul is right. N3242G is listed as an AT-6D owned by American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum in Texas in the FAA registry.
Actually it’s a modified Vultee Vibrator from the movie Tore Tore Tora to simulate a Kate.
To me, it looks small for a T-6 (judging by the pilot's size).
Great shot. Love these planes.
This aircraft is a highly modified T-6. Engine moved forward and BT-13 aft fuselage.

Unless my eyesight is worse than I think the emblem reads "Commemorative Air Force" Alan.
Curtiss ans Paul are right, I guess it's a T6 (brave T6) air frame and a Vultee tail built together to look like a Nakajima BN5 Kate ... for several movies scenes.
Great shot!

Serge got it right. They were heavily modified AT-6s
