Fairchild-Republic Thunderbolt 2 (08-1983)

If there would have been a Squadron of A10's the other day in Ukraine there would have been nothing left of Putin's 47 mile column. Would have resembled Saddam's Hwy of Death leaving Kuwait.
Oh!A-10 cool!
Spot-on Steve.
Steve and David - right on. Before I even opened the pic and saw the comments I thought wouldn't it be fantastic if the Ukranians had these to fight with.
Also, missing a button to hear its sound in action.
Great shot. Miss seeing these in the skies since RAF Alconbury closed some years ago & yes a few of these in the Ukraine would be useful. A great "Tankbuster".
Nice photo of My favorite war bird!
Exactly Steve, to bad they don’t have any where they need them; Ukraine!!
Kick Tail
One of the best 'inventions' EVER on our side. And the Air Force wanted to mothball them. Craziness.
Searching for a Russian Tank Column ?
RE: Steve Claudy: AMEN!
Steve: AMEN to that. I couldn't agree more
Soldiers' best friend from above.
A-10, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Best arsenal ever built. Worked on one once, after 38 years in aviation it is one of my best memories.

One of the best since the P-51!
Should send 20 own 30 to the Ukranians!
Instead they are mothballed somewhere, probably the desert.

Huge fan of A-10's track record and design. However, my understanding from "Crusade" (Rick Atkinson) is that USAF lost two A-10s operating in contested airspace in Iraq in the early days of the air campaign of Desert Storm and commanders decided to pull it way back. That was with 1990/1991 air defense systems. What is the level of threat A-10s would face in Ukraine in comparison to what they faced from Iraq in 1990/91? Yes, they could obliterate those columns, but what systems would those columns be able to deploy back? I'd love to hear any expertise on this topic that could bring me up to speed.
seems to be everybody's favorite, I know it's mine.
I like the P-51 comparison.
Last of the Stick & Rudder warbirds!

@Steve Claudy. Totally agree. I have wondered if that column wasn't meant to taunt America with Putin KNOWING the reputation of the A-10. A couple of strafing runs and it's either home for dinner, or inbound ICBM.
Love seeing the warthogs flying low down the Rappahannock River south of Tappahannock, VA.
