Amazing well done

I live near Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, and one day I was driving up I-5 from Los Angeles, and they were doing some training flights at their training air in a stretch of land between the I-5 and the Ocean and I came around a curve and one of those Apaches was coming straight towards me at about 500 feet. Almost ran off the road trying to get out of his gunsights.

Leander Williams, the U.S. Marine Corps fly's the Cobra out of Pendelton, not the Apache.

My dad's first job out of the US Army's Logitics school in 1982 was in support of testing the Apache. We were sent to St Louis. Dad's office was at TROFSCOM(I may have that acronym wrong). Every other week he would have to go to the Hughes plant in Mesa, AZ where the Apache was being built. Then he would go to Yuma proving ground to watch it fly. During the summer of 1985 he took Mom and me on one of his trips. It was awesome!Back then it was Hughes Helicopters built them until McDonnell Douglas bought them out, and then Boeing took over and we all know that story.

No Larry, not all of us know "that story".
