Boeing 737-800 (VH-YIO)

Good demonstrations of one of the approaches to Rocky. When I used to fly to Mackay for Brampton Island back in the 70s and 80s, I was told Rocky could get some turbulence from the location between the two ranges. Can't ever recall a landing though with any noticeable adverse motion - perhaps I got lucky. Great photos Steve.

Thanks Gavin. Sorry to take so long to respond. I've been indulging another of my photography genres and chasing Red-Backed Fairywrens around paddocks with some little success. Just saw your comment. I can't ever recall a bumpy landing in Rocky either, but it has been a very long time since I've been on a plane. The roughest ride I ever recall was on a Short from Brisbane to Maryborough. Service was suspended and everyone was white-knuckle gripping there seats. I seriously wondered whether we had a problem with the aircraft at the time. It can get gusty here though, but even so the main issue I see around here now is the large numbers of very large birds. Pelicans and Wedge-tailed eagles being the biggest with the occasional brolga, numerous ibis and kites as well the cattle egrets. The shotguns have been out and loud recently.
