The Breitling Super Constellation does a flyby at Farnborough 2014
Comments
With apologies to the current crop of airliners, y'all cannot even been in the same yard, let alone the same sky with ANY of Lockheed's beautiful Constellations. If given a chance to fly from one coast to the other in a big Boeing or Airbus OR in a Connie that would take maybe twice as long and be noisier, etc, I'd take the Connie ANY day!
Couldn't agree more Tom, what a treat to see these magnificent machines. And to all those who maintain and fly these beauties… THANK YOU!!
What a beauty.... Nice memories, my father flew Connies with the USN for about 22 years. "72 pistons trying to swap places" as he would say. The epitome of reciprocating engine technology, cut short with the advent of the gas turbine (sadly, I would say). I'd say a hard feat for a modern manned AC to achieve would be the 20+ or so hours of flight time these planes were capable of.... He shared some amazing stories of his time piloting the Connie, and of course some very sad ones as not all those crews made it home......
Ah yes! I flew sideways in the 749 & 1049 with Eastern a lifetime ago. Loved to put up the galley door bar & invite the kids up front to see the stuff....As you all know, this was the LAST of the truly great panel airplanes, and yes, even remembering having to land at ATL to pick up 2 stews to help serve the evening meal on the MIA-ORD run against the jets doing this in 2, I would love to do this again, just one more time.
Great shot of a beautiful lady Mark!
Thanks Joseph! It's such a treat to see these old machines so well looked after. There seems to be a few guys on Flightaware that actually flew these beauties with the airlines or for the military. I invite any of you guys to share your stories, we'd sure like to hear them!
When trying to make a comment on TOM GRIFFIN'S entry I made a mistake of reporting it as Spam, sorry about that.
Tom right on, the music emmannating from the turbo compound 3350s is simply a master piece coming from heave.

Flew these back in 64 with TWA.
Hey Mark, just curious do you mind taking a look at my photos? I'd like a professional opinion :)
excellent photo! 5*
I have spent countless hours working on this Connie when it still was the star of Camarillo. Great action shot !!!
Beautiful old bird.I am now a volunteer at a museum in Australia called HARS(Historic Aircraft Restoration Society)and am privileged to look after A Connie also.It is a C121 Super Constellation, which was resurrected out of the BoneYard at Davis Monthan and restored and flown back to Australia.
I would like to know if you have any problems with me, since I see that all the photos that I upload are stolen according to your comments. If you both bothered what I do please just do not enter my photos. I would thank you from the heart.
