British Airways owner 'lined up to buy' C Series jets from Bombardier
Speculation coming out of Ireland sees an order between IAG and Bombardier for the Canadian-built CSeries aircraft being announced soon. The order, if announced, is believed to be for fleet requirements at British Airways, Vueling, and Aer Lingus. (www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
It is a good sign that Bombardier has now penetrated each of the big three alliances with the C-series and undoubtedly help make investments and loans by the two governments look like a sound decision.
This is the only smart thing they've done in a long while
They could sell hundreds of C series and would still claim they need government money to "provide worthwhile jobs" in Quebec.
You are only partially correct as that has certainly been the nature of the beast. But now the PQ government is a partner and the need will be for capital to ramp up production. Full order books need to be addressed to sell more, but manufacturing capacity will need to be expanded, not just by Bombardier but by its suppliers. I would expect the governments to extend the terms of the existing loans to allow the company et al to reinvest their income into capital formation which will create those new job (and tax income for both the Feds and PQ). That is politically safer.
