No cockpit selfies, DGCA (of India) tells pilots
Pilots will no longer be able to click selfies in cockpit when airborne. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an air safety circular against the clicking of selfies in air as the regulator feels this is a distraction from the serious job of flying, which could affect safety. “The new rule has been issued and will soon be put online,“ DGCA chief BS Bhullar said. Some will probably still take them, just leave them off of social media.
Well maybe it will stop the next one from having a stew on his/her lap
But I try to suffix my objection with some logic and / or reasons.
I fail to understand how taking a 'selfie' can be an operational hinderance or hazard ?
How far is it fair to compare an act of taking a 'selfie' with that of ' using PEDs for personal use while flying ' ?
Do the regulators all over the world ever think and weigh out the option regulation vs prohibition ?
Why go for "prohibition" always ? Just because it saves them the supervisory trouble ?
I always wonder !
