Hi Mr. "canuck". I disagree with your post. In at least two areas.

First of all, the discussion about life-jackets is not the only mistake. Certainly not the one that interests me....

Which leads us to your second comment that "Eastwood was able to turn the screw on the NTSB second guessers.

I suspect from your comments I may have somewhat more experience in FAA/NTSB/FISDO investigations & trials, both as counsel for those who have run into such situations, and in two cases, where I myself was the subject of an investigation.

Yes - no question...if a case gets to the trial level - it CAN be a crap-shoot - as I noted elsewhere.

SOME of the "Administrative Law Judges" and SOME of the FAA trial attorneys are NOT pilots, MAY be openly hostile towards us aviators, and in any event, just want to keep the cases moving & get some kind of "score" that makes them look good statistically.

But that is not what happens in the overwhelming majority of cases. They never get to trial. That's because at the operational level, FISDO/FAA/NTSB folks, many if not most of them...are pilots themselves..sincerely interested in aviation safety and what we can learn from an incident to help each other out.

In only ONE case in all my years of being involved with this have I EVER met someone who forgot he is a public servant, working for us! (be assured I saw to it he got an "education" to get him back on the right track...!)

Yes, if we understand that movies are ENTERTAINMENT, I agree with you the movie is worth seeing.

But lets not forget it is ENTERTAINMENT, that reflects the view of the entertainment's creator - it is not the best source for factual representations of what actually happened after the first six or so minutes of the movie.
