BA Boeing 747 returns to LHR landing on three sets of wheels

A British Airways flight, which was two hours into its journey from London to Chicago, had to turn back to Heathrow due to "technical reasons". Passengers on the plane posted on Twitter that the fault was with the aircraft's landing gear. The reason I ask is the News is about a B-747 but in the picture it shows an A-380

Dumped about 120,000 liters of fuel for this landing. BA must have deep pockets to afford that, not to mention having to find another jet to complete the trip

Why not continue on to Midway? It burns off the fuel and gets the pax to their destination. Does it matter what airport they set it down at?

I think you mean O'Hare, but I have the same question. Perhaps there was some condition that could be expected to deteriorate over time.
