Boeing and Embraer Should be Ashamed of the Ad

Enviado

Head up up display, a key part of this system, was mispronounced as Heads up display and I giggled a bit when the narrator referred to airport excursions. I have one every time I go to an airport to fly, ride or for an outing. A little different from an incursion that the system is designed to avoid. Why Boeing and Embraer should be embarrassed and ashamed I'll leave to you in the arguments that will no doubt follow, Doesn't anyone edit anymore, or are the editors that ignorant? I personally didn't see anything for them to be ashamed about. For my part, you can take your choice on the HUD and excursion was discussed in the article. That's being kinda picky and petty. Just sayin'.

Yea, I've been accused of that before, I believe words mean something and no two words in the English language mean the same thing. It's clear what they meant by excursion, they meant incursion. It's also clear what they meant by using Heads-up display rather than Head up display. Boeing and Embraer of all companies out there should know there is a difference and what it is. Heads up is a warning that something is immanently about to happen. "Pay attention!" Head up is a body position allowing a pilot or equipment operator to look out the windshield and view the equipment's instruments at the same time.

Ms. Jenkins referred to running off the runway as an excursion, seems to be used appropriately. Maybe there is another app to warn of incursions. Head-up and heads-up seem to be getting merged in the vernacular, a pitfall of a living language. Q: if you have a head-up (singular) display that has a pop-up warning alert function, does it become a heads-up (plural) display when triggered? Does it remain separate system?

I heard I-40 is the new Mason-Dixon, if true, Md is still too far North.

I guess since it's you, we'll let Southern Maryland qualify. Got to have somebody to pick on on a rainy Friday afternoon. LOL

:_0. I recon I qualify for that too. How long does it take to shed the Yankee moniker after a transplant? hehehe

Momma was a Southern Belle from Baltimore, but Daddy was Yankee through and through I transplanted to Southern Maryland in '67. I would have hoped to earn my bars by now.

Runway incursion = taxiing on the wrong route to takeoff.
Runway excursion = taxiing onto the wrong route after landing.
Excursions are far more common.

Bill, at my age I have an excursion every time I take those first fifteen steps in the morning. A trip to the airport is no longer an excursion but an adventure. As I said in the header the inevitable argument is here with y'all That's singular Southern the plural bein' all y'all
