A Federal ban on high-powered green laser pointers???
90 percent of laser incidents involve green lights. The green laser pointers are apparently preferred by pranksters because the green light travels farther. They also are more likely to injure a pilot’s eyes. (newyork.cbslocal.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
The people who do this should just be done away with.. No reason for this... I don't call them pranksters, it is not a prank or even close... These people should stand trial for Attempted Manslaughter 1 count for each passenger on board.
Misuse of such a laser is already against the law. The stupidity of throwing a piece of paper into the fray in the form of a new law against their use is typical. I have attended some educational seminars at a university observatory where the instructors used lasers to point out constellations, etc. and I can imagine the red tape and stifling bureaucracy such a law would create for the facility simply to continue to use what they already have in the responsible way that they're already practicing.
Witch hunt against astronomers!
But seriously, only certified astronomy geeks should be allowed to have green lasers. Now, for the test: What's your favorite episode of Cosmos?

There are many other uses for lasers, green included. I and many more need them for our guns. Red and green lasers compliment each other when a bad guy needs to be lit up like a christmas tree. If poor choices continue to be made, the lasers are not as big of a problem as what can follow them.
That's just Chuckie, Anything for a vote no matter how dumb the idea. Here in the real world, it would seem that vigorous prosecution and stiff penalties is the way to handle the short term solution. The long term solution will take care of itself as planes begin to autonomously fly themselves with pilots along for the ride and ultimately with no pilots at all to be blinded.
Lots of people use them for work. Our Nanny state is at it again. You can't outlaw stupidity.
