The aircraft is currently completing its structural assembly before the cabin integration phase and will be used for certification flight trials. A second aircraft is being assembled in parallel, which is destined for entry in service in the second quarter of 2015 with launch customer Delta Air Lines. (atwonline.com) Más...

Aren't they just kinda catching up to Boeing here. Seems to me the 777-200ER has MTOW of about 650,000 lbs or 326 US tons. I am not sure of the conversion scale but I think that is about 297 European tonnes which still puts them behind.

Seems that there is a lot of anti Boeing on here by some. One web site is the same way about anything Boeing. I think you are more than right about it also. Yes they made a decision or several on the 787 that bit them bad. Lets see how well they recover from it in the long run. I would like to see both continue to prosper. One question to you as knowing and having flown AC, Airbus and I don't know what model, a friend flew in one after being in several Boeing going to Australia said it was not a quiet AC creaked and groaned was not as comfortable either, your thoughts???

Well, not tried and true Boeing, BUT, that's all I have ever flown. Right now I have same attitude about the Bus that I had about the Japanese cars several years ago when they were cheap and junk. It is well known that over the years, their quality improved, they built plants here, our big 3 let their guard down and got their butt's kicked. If Boeing is not careful, the same will happen to them. Airbus is well funded and so is most of the other competition out there in the RJ end of things that will take a bite out of the 737 market in years to come. Airlines are looking for $ right now. Other than possibly SWA, there is no loyalty. It is "Not what you did yesterday; what can you do for me today.

The A330 is a cheap, popular, and proven alternative to the 787. It will also be attractive to airlines as they will to get them much faster than 787's. I think Airbus is going to make money.

Airbus launched this new version of the A330 to compete with the 787. I don't think they're concerned with competing against 777 with this aircraft.
