FAA Seeks Fine Against Pinnacle Over Missing Part
The FAA is proposing a $275,000 civil penalty against Pinnacle Airlines of Memphis for allegedly operating a Bombardier CRJ900 on 11 flights without all required parts fitted. According to the FAA, Pinnacle mechanics failed to replace a part required in the approved aircraft maintenance manual when they replaced the aircraft’s right engine. A source close to the Pinnacle flight crew told AIN on condition of anonymity that the missing part was the second engine mount used to hold the powerplant… (www.ainonline.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
If the story is true, a missing engine mount is no little thing.
...Why wouldn't it be true?
Because stories get stuff wrong all the time. Must be significant to get that type of fine.
There is a good possibility here of that. One of our contributors here works for them in MEM, and while this was before his time there, he cannot see how it would fly, let alone make 11 flights, without that mount
I don't know how many there are but it is a pretty serious piece of structure to leave off.
Man told me there were only 2 per engine
I honestly don't see how the engine was level and didn't vibrate like heck if this is true.
We really couldn't figure it out either. That's why we wonder if thee isn't some more to this story
lots and lots of duct tape
