Southwest Airlines’ Pilots Prepare for Possible Airline Acquisition Amid Speculation
The pilot union of Southwest Airlines, SWAPA, has strategically enlisted the services of several law firms in anticipation of the airline potentially pursuing the acquisition of another carrier. This move underscores the union’s commitment to safeguarding the interests and securing the future of Southwest pilots in the event of a major corporate transaction. The pilot union will declare "unsafe conditions" but those conditions will miraculously disappear when they get a pay raise.
I think SWA will expand its overseas routes. No clue as to which airline but having 737s isn’t a must. Other acquisitions used MD 80s.
I call BS

No way Jose! The boarding is just a bit bovine in nature however, once onboard, the service and attitude are better than the majors. If you want to pay extra you can get in the first group and get a free drink just like the majors. Also, the seat pitch on the whole airplane is superior to basic economy at UA.
Speak for yourself Jose. I'll choose SWA everytime over AAnus and have not had an unpleasant experience with SWA. I know it happens and the Dec 2022 crisis was a debacle of their own making; but there is so little margin in the whole commercial system that even small problems quickly erupt into major ones.
The glory days of air travel are long gone and it's a race to the bottom everywhere. Unless you're traveling first class, the boarding experience sucks across the board. I've flown a lot over the years for work and play, and constantly as a child even since my father flew for Continental. I'm confident in saying Southwest is no better or worse in this regard, just different.
