Douglas AD Skyraider (NX959AD)
Comments
Nice angle-full hard points and mission ready. 5* Spad shot-
Awesome, love the loaded munitions racks.
So easy to fly that VNAF (Vietnam Air Force) flew them with pretty good results. The Air America guys flying in the early 60s would have like to have them in Laos as their back up instead of the T6.
Good aircraft , very hard to to fly ...
I was crew chief on this plane July 1968 to July 1969 at NKP. It was always ready to go.
Still room for a 2000 pounder on centerline.
Thanks for the work you did Jim!
Able Dog! Great shot of a great airplane!

I have my Dad's cruse book from the 1952 USS Princeton Cruise. One of the pictures in it is of a Spad trapping, with half of the engine cowling missing, and what's left flapping in the breeze.
Tough bird.
Tough bird.
Seen the vid of the skyraider clipping a mustang in Europe. The spad landed missing half its wing. Very tough bird
