Which is the better workhorse a DC7 OR the infamous DC3 , both awesome aircraft , when young used to love putting airfix models of the DC3 together .
IMO, the workhorse here is the DC-3 (just like the Ford model a), in that there are many STILL in service when it's a December 17, 1935 design
Could this be also considered a C-47
Al, I believe the correct designation for this plane would be the C47. It is possible this was re-configured from a DC-3, but in this form, as a military a/c, it would be a C47.
Right gear already retracting. One of the best ac ever made. My Dad flew on one from England to North Africa on Torch D+2. No smoking as there were 50 gal drums of av gas in the cabin piped to the fuel tanks - had to fly around france due to Luftwaffe bases, especially at Merignac.
Thanks for sharing your dad's military service history Thomas !!
Appreciated greatly.
Appreciated greatly.
Just like the Wolkswagen Beetle the DC-3 was part of my childhood, so until today I'm passionate about it.
