How are the kids not smiling!!! When I was their age, I would be all over that airplane. Sorry, that is a lie, it would be no different at this age :)

The aircraft in question is a Cessna 195(or 190, but it looks like a Jacobs under the cowl)....my family has a very similar picture from yesteryear....I was the same age as the kids, but I was smiling.
I have many fond memories of the family trips we made in our 195.

Someone correct me if I'm in error here... but I'm thinking this is a recently taken photo with digital editing for a slight "color sepia effect"... and the couple and children are wearing somewhat "period" clothing representative of the 1940's or so.

That aside, it's a very good photo and I like it!

I like the photo too. Maybe it is real, probably not. Made to look like an out west, late 50's-early 60's, Sunday outing, perhaps visiting the in-laws. The picture taken by grandpa just before boarding on their way home.
The dad, businessman(how else could he afford such a plane), has a pager on his belt, could also be a doctor. For mom, very church goin' conservative attire with a 40's-50ish hairdo. To me they look very much I'm guessing, Mormons. Neither is showing a wedding band. The two older boys appear to be twins and very much resemble the couple. They have that, 'aw, shucks ma do we really have to' look on their faces, apropos for their age.
A snap shot of a dream or a retro reenactment? The plane has almost nothing on it that shows that it was flown recently. None to few bugs on the leading edges, windshield, prop, landing gear leg or wheel pants. No belly grease or drips from a 'Shaky Jake'? It just ain't normal. It's a nice dream anyway!

I think I spotted a pager on the mans belt, so I'd guess it was taken in the 90s and make to look older.
