This is one of the best flying fighters of all time. While all spitfires were always a pilots plane, a dream to fly, however anyone who's flown the earlier MkV (designed to combat the FW190), through the Mk22 will tell you the Mk9 pictured here was the most joy to fly.
This spitfire Mk-IX Mk9 was the best flying spit of all time, the faster and more powerful Mk-XIV (14) was a great aircraft but the P-factor on take off could be a challenge at full throttle on take off. Once in the air, it was like waring a plane instead of sitting in a plane
