Aero U-9 Commander 680 Super (N500TA) - This shot is a bit different than any of the other shots Ive uploaded, usually I only like to have shots of moving aircraft, or at least with the engines turned on but Im trying something new today. And not to mention either of those are possible in its current state. br /br /N500TA is a 1962 Aero Commander 500-A (with the "n-number" now cancelled) and has been parked at Corona Airport for as long as I can remember. It seems like someone is keeping it around to try and restore it but it has looked like this the entire time that Ive been seeing it. Hopefully one day this airplane will be restored and get back to flying instead of just sitting there, but Im not sure how likely that is.

Thanks for posting and I hope this once airworthy Aero Commander is rescued. At least there is someone maintaining air in the tires!

I was almost going to write another part in the description about that. The tires always used to be flat but then the airport was flooded back in 2010 and a lot of the planes had to be moved off the airport property which meant that the tires had to be inflated so the plane could be towed. Once it was moved back to the airport the tires seemed to stay mostly inflated, so my guess would be that once and a while someone still comes around to inflate them, which is a good sign that someone does still cares about it.

If you want to see an Aero Commander that needs to be rescued, check out N690RP. A Sperm Whale paint scheme that has been rotting, sitting at the same spot, for over 4 years. Black widows are on the exterior while the interior remains rotted, filled with mold and a funky moist smell. Such a shame to see such amazing airplanes rot.

Clicks like this are just as important to take as snaps of operational (airworthy) birds. In a way, this shot preserves this a/c. I agree wholeheartedly with Chris L. so your pic here will keep this one in "existence" no matter what actually happens to it. Bravos.
